It fit tightly and perfectly so I didn't need to use the pins at all. The bronze finish is actually nearly black with reddish-gold highlights on the edges. The color was dark, but has a hint of a brass/gold that makes it blend with the gold stuff still in the house so they don't seem too out of place. The metal is very thick and of high quality, the install was standard. I liked them on our new white closet doors and will install them in the other bedrooms as well.
